I have never owned a boat before, but I bought a 1959 Glastex Speed Queen with the 1959 Mercuery Mark 40. It is in good shape, but has not been started in years so no idea about motor condition. It is in nice shape over all, horn, lights, etc are all there, has 2 newer front seats in decent condition and fiberglass rear bench. I pick it up Sat. and am REALLY excited.
I do know basic fiberglass and can do most repairs on car motors, but this will be my first marine motor. I would appreciate any advice, tips, things to look for etc. as well as any infor on the boat and/or motor. I got a great deal on this, at least in my opinion, the boat, trailer, motor for $500. Trailer has 15" wheels, 6 year old wiring and lights and solid. The boat is 14' by the way.
