Hello All. After managing to get through 30 years of adulthood without owning a boat, I started wanting one last summer.
I managed to hold off till winter hit, and thought the "spell" had passed. How wrong one can be :)
A few weeks ago, a day before my 52nd birthday, I found an ad on Craigslist for a 50 year old Larson boat, complete with motor and trailer for only $400. Whoohoo!
After some hurried research via Google, I decided that I had stumbled on a treasure. A quick trip to see it and BAM! I are a sailor :)
It's definitely a fixer-upper, but I'm pretty confident that I have most of the skills to do most of fixing-up myself (with a bit of advice of course).
So I went searching for some forums about old boats and restoring them, and this one seemed pretty friendly.

So here I be.
And, here's the new toy:

I WILL be asking for advice and suggestions on various parts of the project, so I'll leave the rest of the details for a forthcoming thread on the discussion forums.
(Big thanks though to Barnacle Brad for all the help getting me registered here)

Happy Boating,
