I'm posting this for Glenn. Does anyone have any information on Cadillac boats they can share?

Thanks!

Brad

Good morning, I have just acquired what I believe is a 1956 Cadillac Coronado, do you have any idea where I can find information

on Cadillac boats and on my boat in particular?

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks Brad, actually the web site has some pretty good information, it just took me a while to find it all.

Actually I think what I have is a 1956 Cadillac Riviera, I’ve attached pictures of what I just bought, the last photo is a step pad that I’m trying

to find either material to make one out of or I’d buy a whole set if I could find them.

Any idea who/where I might find this material?

I’m in Groveland Massachusetts, I’d appreciate any information or ideas you have on locating information leading to the step pads I’m looking

for or any more Cadillac info.

Finding the correct item may be difficult. Finding any real information about the boats has so far eluded me too.

I've found aCadillac Cordnado that I may make my next project.

Cadillac Marine & Boat Company was established at Cadillac, Michigan in 1953. They were in no way affiliated with the auto maker of the same name. Not sure if they were a wholly owned subsidiary of Wagemaker Company, Inc. at the very beginning but they were at one time. In 1960-61 stock changed hands and the company became Ash-Craft Company.

In November 1962 Ash-Craft filed chapter IX bankruptcy.

General Motors sued Cadillac Marine & Boat Co. in 1957 for use of the "Cadllac" name. The suit was settled in 1964 when a Federal Court ruled in favor of the boat company and told Cadillac Auto (General Motors) that they did not have the exclusive rights to the "Cadillac" name. The boat firm was awarded $41,000.00!

There are some Cadillac Boat brochures at that "other" site.

Saw one laying outside a good old boy outboard repair shop Sunday and his story was that everytime you bought a Cadillac, you got a Cadillac boat made by Lone Star. Nope didn`t have the heart to argue with him. If your in the DFW area, go to the Lake Alvarado launch ramp and find Bubba`s Bait Shop and see if he will sell it.
The above story is true and none of the names were changed to protect anybody.
