Hi,

My name is Jeremiah and I'm from Edmonton, Canada. I inherited my grandfathers boat and I've decided to get it up and running and fixed up. I'm not sure on the age of the boat as the serial number is so faded I can't make it out.

I'm looking at refinishing the boat - I'm not sure about trying to restore the gelcoat or if I can paint it. I've checked out a bunch of other sites that had fiberglass projects and some painted it. I can't do it myself, don't have the skills or tools so I'm looking into a cost of refinishing it. I'm getting an estimate from a guy very soon.

I also have to re-do the steering, I was curious if there was a more modern steering kit rather than a pulley system?
Also, the seats need to be re-done...
And the engine. Well, it has a 651 cc chrysler outboard engine. Thats the extent of my engine knowledge. I know my grandfather bought it right before he passed away which was in the 80's. So the engine has sat, for about 20 years now.

Well, thats about it for now. Thanks for all your help and advice!

Right on, cool boat. I'm getting ready to switch from the pulley system steering on my Lonestar, to a single cable(rack n pinion?) system. The larger 115 horse engine I'm switching to has the single cable set-up. I was given a 70's Riviera that had the 115 and the steering set-up, hopefully it will all go together happily. When I get into it I will put up some pics. For a small motor I think the pulley system works good. There is a good article in the Tech section on here about the Pulley system.
